Abstract
In this study, hydroxyapatite (HA) and HA-SiO2 coatings are applied to unalloyed Ti by atmospheric plasma spraying and corrosion resistance is assessed by immersion in Ringer’s solution for 24 h. The results show that the HA coating improves corrosion resistance, which is further improved with the addition of SiO2. An analysis based on Scherrer’s equation confirms an observed increase in crystallite size in the coated samples.
