Although plasma and HVOF sprayed coatings are used increasingly in industrial applications, their wear properties have not yet been thoroughly investigated. The behavior or durability and abrasion resistance of the layers that protect the components under high loads are of particular importance. This paper discusses results regarding the abrasion resistance to friction without lubrication of plasma and HVOF sprayed WC12Co and chromium carbide coatings. The measurements are carried out using a Falex type tester. It is observed that the WC12Co layers sprayed using HVOF have the most regular layer structure, the best abrasion resistance, and the highest hardness. Paper includes a German-language abstract.
