In this investigation, gas atomized powders derived from Ni-Ti wires are vacuum plasma sprayed, producing free-standing coatings with different geometries and wall thicknesses. XRD measurements show that the dominant phases associated with the shape-memory effect and superelasticity remain during powder and coating production, although a problem with brittleness in uncured samples makes tensile test results unusable.
