Abstract
Aesthetic demands and new design flexibilities brought forward the laser technology in the past. Recently more benefits such as lighter and stiffer constructions, reduced process steps and high reproducibility resulting cost-savings have established the laser process even more. Heavily pushed by the automotive and the oil and gas industry, the diode laser technology accumulates experience in applications like hardening and repair welding for tools and dies used in the automotive as well as in the oil and gas industry. The simple and robust direct diode laser technology fully matches the requirements for these applications, competing with the diode pumped solid-state lasers, disk and fiber lasers. More industry branches followed and the diode laser became a versatile tool for a huge variety of different applications. Parallel to the basic process requirements, the customers are keen to get the most out of their investment and to keep the availability on the highest level. On the one hand the reduction of investment costs is important, on the other hand reliability and redundancy concepts are the main topics that are discussed with the customer these days. Laserline meets these demands for instance with a unique 5 years warranty on the core elements of its diode lasers and by offering customized service concepts. This brings the highly sophisticated diode laser technology down to the simple usage as for any conventional welding tool.
