Abstract
This article describes post-processing techniques for machining, finishing, heat treating, and deburring used to remove additive manufacturing (AM) metallic workpieces from a base plate and subsequent techniques to enhance printed workpieces. The AM processes include powder bed fusion, binder jetting, and direct energy deposition. The discussion provides information on powder removal, powder recycling and conditioning, part removal, and part enhancement. The mechanism, applications, advantages, and limitations of mechanical, radiation, and chemical-finishing processes as well as the properties of the resulting material are also covered.

Abstract
This article is a review of the material extrusion-based ceramic additive manufacturing (MECAM) processes. The discussion begins with details of extrusion with filament and paste, covering the most popular variants of paste extrusion-based MECAM techniques that can be differentiated based on paste type and the method of shape retention of the deposited layer: extrusion freeforming, robocasting ceramic on-demand extrusion, and freeze-form extrusion fabrication. The article then focuses on post-processing considerations and the mechanical properties of sintered ceramic parts. It concludes with information on innovation opportunities in ceramic additive manufacturing, such as incorporating UV-curing and gelation in the process and producing geometrically complex structures from shapeable green bodies.

Abstract
Structure-property relationships for metal additive manufacturing (AM) using solidification-based AM processes (e.g., powder-bed fusion and directed-energy deposition) are the focus of this article. Static strength and ductility properties in AM materials are impacted heavily by the microstructure but are also affected by porosity and surface roughness. Fatigue failure in AM materials is also influenced by porosity, surface roughness, microstructure, and residual stress due to applied manufacturing processing parameters. Post-processing treatments can further influence fatigue failure in AM materials.

This article describes the manufacture, post-processing, fabrication, and properties of carbon-carbon composites (CCCs). Manufacturing techniques with respect to the processibility of different geometries of two-directional and multiaxial carbon fibers are listed in a table. The article discusses matrix precursor impregnants, liquid impregnation, and chemical vapor infiltration (CVI) for densification of CCCs. It presents various coating approaches for protecting CCCs, including pack cementation, chemical vapor deposition, and slurry coating. Practical limitations of coatings are also discussed. The article concludes with information on the mechanical properties of CCCs.

Abstract
Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is a computationally intensive three-dimensional simulation of thermal fluids systems where non-linear momentum transport plays an important role. This article presents the governing equations of fluid dynamics and an introduction to the CFD techniques. It introduces some common techniques for discretizing the fluid-flow equations and methods for solving the discrete equations. These include finite-difference methods, finite-element methods, spectral methods, and computational particle methods. The article describes the approaches for grid generation with complex geometries. It discusses the four-step procedures used in the CFD process for engineering design: geometry acquisition, grid generation and problem specification, flow solution, and post-processing and synthesis. The article also provides information on the engineering applications of the CFD. It concludes with a discussion on issues and directions for engineering CFD.

Abstract
Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is reserved for computationally intensive three-dimensional simulations of thermal fluids systems where nonlinear momentum transport plays an important role. This article presents the governing equations of fluid dynamics and an introduction to the CFD techniques for their solution. It introduces discretization techniques that are used by finite-difference, finite-volume, finite-element, spectral, and some particle methods. Associated concepts of numerical stability and accuracy are also reviewed. The article describes two approaches for grid generation with complex geometries: the use of unstructured grids and the use of special differencing methods on structured grids. The article describes the four-step procedures of the CFD process: geometry acquisition, grid generation and problem specification, flow solution, and post-processing and synthesis. It provides information on the applications of the engineering CFD. Issues and directions for the engineering CFD are also described.

This article provides an overview of the finite-element-based analyses (FEA) of advanced composite structures and highlights key aspects such as the homogenization of materials properties and post-processing of numerical results. It discusses the analysis of composite structures based on micromechanics and macromechanics. The article describes the FEA of 3-D solid elements, 2-D cylindrical shell elements, and 1-D beam elements. It contains a table that lists the commercially available finite element codes related to the analysis of fibrous composite materials. The article presents classical examples of the mechanics of composite materials to illustrate the aspects of multilayered composite structures.

Abstract
This article focuses on a study that was performed to understand the effects of powder attributes; process parameters; and hot isostatic pressing (HIP) treatment on the densification, mechanical and corrosion properties, and microstructures of 17-4 PH stainless steel gas- and water-atomized laser-powder bed fusion (LPBF) parts at various energy densities. The results from the study showed the strong dependence of densification, mechanical properties, and microstructures on temperature, pressure, and time during the HIP cycle. The density, ultimate tensile strength, hardness and yield strength of gas and water-atomized LPBF parts increased due to HIP treatment and were higher than as-printed properties. The results also confirmed superior corrosion performance of the HIP treated LPBF parts.

Abstract
This article describes two rapid tooling technologies, namely, direct rapid tooling and indirect rapid tooling, for forging-die applications. Commonly used direct rapid tooling technologies include selective laser sintering, three-dimensional printing, and laser-engineered net shape process. The indirect rapid tooling technologies include 3D Keltool process, hot isostatic pressing, rapid solidification process tooling, precision spray forming, and radially constricted consolidation process.
