Metallic plating on aluminum alloys has a variety of applications and purposes. This article discusses the electrodeposition of metallic coatings developed by electroplating, immersion plating, and electroless plating. It lists the applications using electroplated coatings on aluminum products. The article describes the surface preparation for electroplating in terms of surface roughening, anodizing, and immersion procedures. It provides information on barrel plating of small aluminum alloy parts and on the type of rack employed for both surface preparation and plating of aluminum alloys.
