It describes the types of codes, including safety codes, and trade codes, and the types of standards, including industry consensus standards, product definition standards, and commercial standards. The article provides information on organizations that prepare codes and standards. It tabulates sponsoring organizations for standards published by the American National Standards Institute and concludes with a discussion on designer's responsibility.
