Abstract

This chapter discusses the experimental procedure, microstructure model formulation, and the application of the microstructure model in superalloy forgings. The discussion provides information on preheating tests, compression tests, and generic forgings used in model development and covers three categories of microstructure model formulation, namely dynamic recrystallization, meta-dynamic recrystallization, and static grain growth. It also covers the processes involved in the prediction of microstructure in superalloy forging and the nomenclature of the microstructure model.
