Abstract

This article reviews the principal corrosion reactions and important parameters that control processes of materials (principally metals) exposed to liquid metal environments. It provides a detailed discussion on the categories used to classify relevant corrosion phenomena. These categories include dissolution, impurity and interstitial reactions, alloying, and compound reduction. The article concludes with information on materials selection criteria for liquid metal environments.
