for article titled, UNILOY 405: Non Hardenable Stainless Steel
UNILOY 405 is a non-hardening modification of the 12% chromium stainless steel, AISI Type 410. A small addition of aluminum (about 0.20%) restricts the formation of austenite at high temperature so that hardening does not occur upon quenching. This characteristic makes Uniloy 405 especially suited for welding; the welds are ductile and there is no need for controlled cooling rates. Applications of Uniloy 405 include all types of welded structures that cannot be annealed after welding. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, joining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: SS-402. Producer or source: Cyclops.
