Finkl DCF is a prehardened, single-melt modified H13. The alloy is resulfurized for ease of machining in the hardened condition. This eliminates the necessity of costly and time-consuming vacuum heat treating that normally has to be scheduled after machining. The thermal fatigue resistance is less than that of double-melted DC-Xtra, but DCF is ready for service as machined. It is supplied prehardened at a hardness of approximately 45 HRC. Mar-X is a precipitation-hardening, stainless steel with excellent corrosion resistance for both atmospheric and chemical attack. The heat response characteristics of this grade provide especially good welding characteristics. Absence of hardening in the weld heat-affected zone (HAZ) offers improved blending characteristics and reduced cracking potential in welded areas.
