TIMETAL 62S, because iron is used for the beta stabilizer in lieu of more expensive elements, has a lower formulation cost than most titanium alloys, yet the properties and processing characteristics of Ti-6A1-2Fe-0. 1Si are equivalent to or better than those of the workhorses of the titanium industry, including Ti-6A1-4V.
