METGLAS MBF-30A is a brazing foil in ductile, flexible metallic-glass form (a similar grade, MBF-30, is identical except that it has larger dimensional tolerances). This foil provides an alloy with high strength at both elevated and room temperatures. It can be used to join highly stressed stainless steel and heat-resisting alloy components. The excellent flow characteristics of this alloy recommend it for assemblies with good fit-up and tight-tolerance joints. It works well on thin-foil, honeycomb designs and on fairly heavy components. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, and microstructure. It also includes information on heat treating. Filing Code: Ni-273. Producer or source: Allied Corporation.

Alloy Steel 3.5Ni-1.8Cr-0.4Mo-0.1V is highly suitable for massive components, usually more than four inches thick. It has high hardenability which in a water-spray or water-immersion quench contributes to the formation of sizeable amounts of martensite along with some bainite, and possibly a little ferrite. On tempering, the martensite adds to toughness and lowers the temperature of transition from tough to brittle failure. This steel is suitable for intermediate-duty and heavy-duty generator and turbine rotors, large axles and shafts, large gears and ship forgings. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, and machining. Filing Code: SA-404. Producer or source: Alloy steel mills and foundries.

for article titled, ATLAS 316, ATLAS 316L, ATLAS 316H: Austenitic Stainless Steel
Atlas 316 is a chromium-nickel-molybdenum austenitic stainless steel, second only to Atlas 304 in commercial importance. The molybdenum gives Atlas 316 better overall corrosion resistant properties than type 304 austenitic stainless steel, particularly higher resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments. It is readily brake or roll formed, welded, soldered, and cut by both thermal and mechanical methods. The austenitic structure gives excellent toughness, even down to cryogenic temperatures. Atlas 316L, the low carbon version of Atlas 316, is highly resistant to sensitization (grain boundary carbide precipitation) and so is extensively used in heavy gauge welded components; about 5 mm, 0.2 in., and over. Atlas 316H, with its higher carbon content, has some application at elevated temperatures, as does stabilized type 316Ti. ZA-27 is a zinc-aluminum-copper alloy that offers exceptionally high strength (58,000 to 64,000 psi tensile strength as cast) at modest cost. It performs best in thin-walled castings (down to 0.10 inch) which means reduced weight and lower material costs when castings are redesigned. It is similar to the general-purpose ZA-12 alloy (Alloy Digest Zn-31, September 1977) except for its higher strength and elongation, but with higher casting temperatures and poor heavy-section castability. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, tensile properties, and shear strength as well as fracture toughness and creep.
