ELKONITE G17, G18, 7065, and 7165 silver silver alloys contain molybdenum as the refractory metal. Molybdenum has a lower density than tungsten and is less resistant to arc erosion. Molybdenum-silver Elkonites exhibit self-cleaning properties when subjected to arching during switching. The arc breaks down the molybdenum oxide at temperatures above 795 degrees C (1465 degrees F). This helps maintain low contact resistance. The molybdenum-silver Elkonites are susceptible to corrosion in high atmospheres and are not recommended where they will encounter this type of environment. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and bend strength. Filing Code: MO-18. Producer or source: CMW Inc.

ELKONITE 20S, 30S, 35S, 40S, 45S, 50S, 4050, and 2088 are tungsten-silver compositions with the tungsten content ranging from 50-88 wt.%. Tungsten has the highest strength and the highest melting temperature of the refractory metals. This is the principal factor in determining resistance of a contact to arc erosion and mechanical wear. The strength, erosion, and weld-resistance characteristics of the contact increase with increasing tungsten content; the electrical and thermal characteristics decrease. This datasheet provides information on composition and physical properties. Filing Code: W-22. Producer or source: CMW Inc.

ELKONITE G13, G14, 1060, 3042 and 3150 tungsten carbide-silver alloys have good erosion resistance and low contact resistance. The major characteristics are superior resistance to contact welding or sticking and excellent corrosion resistance. Tungsten carbide is a hard, chemically inert material and has a lower rate of oxidation than tungsten, The tungsten carbide-silver Elkonites are resistant to corrosion in high-humidity atmospheres and are superior to the other Elkonite materials in that respect. They vary in composition from 33 to 60 percent tungsten carbide by weight. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, and hardness. Filing Code: W-23.
