USS 18-8 Mo (AISI Type 316) is an iron-chromium-nickel alloy with superior resistance to corrosion because of an addition of 2 to 3% molybdenum. It is formable and weldable. It has good creep strength and is very well suited for high-temperature applications that require relatively high strengths up to 1500 F. It resists corrosion from a wide variety of chemicals and is highly resistant to oxidation to 1650 F. Its numerous applications include pharmaceutical equipment, pulp and paper industry, dairy equipment, and chemical processing. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness and creep. It also includes information on high temperature performance and corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, joining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: SS-325. ZIRCADYNE 702 is described as unalloyed zirconium despite the fact that it contains hafnium (4.5% max.) from its ore. Hafnium is very similar to zirconium metallurgically and chemically and is not detrimental to corrosion resistance and other characteristics of zirconium in most applications (except nuclear). Because of its excellent resistance to many corrosive media and its good mechanical and heat-transfer properties, Zircadyne 702 has found widespread use in many chemical process applications. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fatigue. It also includes information on high temperature performance and corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, joining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: Zr-7. Producer or source: Teledyne Wah Chang Albany.

ZIRCADYNE 706 is a zirconium-niobium (columbium) alloy containing 2-3% niobium. It is similar in chemical compositions (except for slightly lower oxygen) to Zircadyne 705 (Alloy Digest Zr-8, July 1982). Zircadyne 706 was developed specifically for severe forming applications such as panel-type heat exchangers. The corrosion resistance of Zircadyne 706 is identical to that of Zircadyne 705 but its tensile and yield strengths are slightly lower. It is recommended for chemical processing applications. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, elasticity, and tensile properties. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, joining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: Zr-10. Producer or source: Teledyne Wah Chang Albany.

The importance of hydrochloric and sulfuric acids to the chemical process industries cannot be overstated. There has always been a desire for materials with improved resistance to these two acids, without the drawbacks associated with the nickel-molybdenum alloys. The Hybrid-BC1 alloy is significantly more resistant to HCl and H2SO4 than the Ni-Cr-Mo alloys and additionally, is resistant to oxidizing chemicals in the acid that are very detrimental to B-Family alloys. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, and tensile properties. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: Ni-679. Producer or source: Haynes International Inc.

ATI 425 was originally developed for hot-rolled armor plate to provide ballistic protection comparable to Ti-6Al-4V and has been evaluated against a variety of projectile threats for use as armor. While processing the alloy for armor plate applications, it was observed that the material exhibited very good hot workability, permitting a more lenient window of processing parameters than necessary for Ti-6Al-4V. Versatility then expanded, and applications now exist in the chemical process industry (CPI) and in the aerospace industry. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness and fatigue. It also includes information on corrosion resistance.
