ATI 425 was originally developed for hot-rolled armor plate to provide ballistic protection comparable to Ti-6Al-4V and has been evaluated against a variety of projectile threats for use as armor. While processing the alloy for armor plate applications, it was observed that the material exhibited very good hot workability, permitting a more lenient window of processing parameters than necessary for Ti-6Al-4V. Versatility then expanded, and applications now exist in the chemical process industry (CPI) and in the aerospace industry. There has always been a desire for materials with improved resistance to these two acids, without the drawbacks associated with the nickel-molybdenum alloys. The Hybrid-BC1 alloy is significantly more resistant to HCl and H2SO4 than the Ni-Cr-Mo alloys and additionally, is resistant to oxidizing chemicals in the acid that are very detrimental to B-Family alloys. JESSOP JS800/800H is an austenitic stainless steel with good resistance to corrosion and oxidation at elevated temperatures; 800 and 800H are identical in composition except that 800H contains a higher specified level of carbon than 800. This steel also shows fair resistance to stress-corrosion cracking. It has good strength and impact properties over a wide range of temperatures. Nistelle Super C is a nickel-base powder metallurgy alloy designed for corrosion resistance and developed for coating and overlaying purposes. The composition of Nistelle Super C, Ni-23Cr-18Mo, is similar to that of the traditional Nistelle alloy, which is Ni-16Cr-16Mo-4.5W, but the higher chromium and molybdenum provide superior corrosion resistance in both oxidizing and reducing corrosive media.
