for article titled, UNILOY 434: Ferritic Stainless Steel
UNILOY 434 is a medium-chromium (17%), non-hardening, ferritic stainless steel containing an addition of molybdenum (nominally 1%). The molybdenum addition creates a grade with increased resistance to corrosion. This steel (when compared with the molybdenum-free grade, AISI Type 430 or Uniloy 430) shows improved resistance to pitting attack from various de-icing chemicals. In addition, the color of Uniloy 434, when buffed, closely resembles that of bright chromium plate. Hence a popular application for Uniloy 434 is automotive trim. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness and creep. It also includes information on high temperature performance and corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: SS-422.
