VANITE is a high-carbon, high-vanadium modification of the 18W-4Cr-IV (AISI Type T1) high-speed tool steel. Its increased alloy content provides increases in cutting efficiency and wear resistance. Vanite is especially suitable for light cuts at high speeds that produce a fine surface finish. It will hold a keen cutting edge and because of this it is used primarily for broaches, reamers and finishing tools. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, and hardness. It also includes information on heat treating and machining. Filing Code: TS-458. Producer or source: Columbia Tool Steel Company.
