JESSOP BX3 is a highly-alloy tool steel designed for service in applications requiring extreme resistance to abrasion. This type of tool steel is the best available for abrasion-resistant properties. It is a high-hardenability (air-hardening), cold-work tool and die steel that can be quenched and tempered to very high hardness (as high as Rockwell C 65). Its many applications include dies of various types, brick mold liners, grinding-wheel molds and wear-resisting parts. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, and hardness. It also includes information on forming, heat treating, machining, joining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: TS-378. Producer or source: Jessop Steel Company.

for article titled, AISI TYPE A7: High-Carbon, High Vanadium Cold Work Tool Steel
AISI Type A7 is an air-hardening tool and die steel designed for extremely high resistance to abrasion. Its high carbon and high vanadium contribute to its high abrasion resistance; however, it should be restricted to applications where toughness is not a prime consideration. It can be austenitized, air cooled and tempered to very high hardness (as high as Rockwell C 65). Its numerous applications include brick-mold liners, knives, liners for sand and shot blasting machines, ceramic-tile liners, punches and hand tools. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and elasticity. It also includes information on forming, heat treating, machining, joining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: TS-384. Producer or source: Tool steel mills.
