SELECT B is a fully uniform air-hardening die steel having abrasion resistance intermediate between Olympic (AISI Type D2) high-carbon, high-chromium die steel and Badger (AISI Type O1) oil-hardening die steel. SELECT B has excellent non-deforming, deep-hardening characteristics and good toughness. Its machinability is comparable to most oil-hardening tool steels. Among its many uses are cold blanking and forming dies, rolls, punches, gages and broaches. WINDSOR is a medium-alloy, air-hardening tool steel possessing superior abrasion resistance for long service life. GUTERL A-2 is a high-hardenability cold-work tool and die steel with excellent non-deforming properties. It is air hardening and therefore exhibits a high degree of dimensional stability in heat treatment. AIRKOOL is a high-hardenability (deep-hardening) tool and die steel that is intermediate in abrasion resistance between the oil-hardening and high-carbon high-chromium tool steels. It possesses superior toughness to both of these types; furthermore, AIRKOOL can be machined readily and has excellent non-deforming characteristics. It is well suited for applications requiring toughness and fairly high resistance to abrasion. Typical applications for AIRKOOL include blanking dies, forming dies, punches and shear blades. No. 484 tool steel is an air hardening tool steel capable of through hardening in heavy sections. Isothermal transformation of material austenitized at 1750 starts after about 400 seconds at 1300 F and after about 1000 seconds at 600 F. The calculated Ms temperature is 325 F.
