Type 309 (UNS S30900) is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel widely used for elevated-temperature services. It has a good combination of oxidation resistance and corrosion-resisting properties. The alloy is essentially nonmagnetic when annealed and become slightly magnetic when cold worked. It is intended primarily for high-temperature applications at 816 deg C (1500 deg F) or higher where resistance to oxidation and/or corrosion is required. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and tensile properties as well as creep. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, and joining. Filing Code: SS-896. Producer or source: J & L Specialty Steel Inc.

for article titled, AK STEEL 309: 23Cr-13.5Ni Austenitic Stainless Steel
AK Steel 309 is a chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steel. It is typically used for elevated temperature applications. Its high chromium and nickel contents provide comparable corrosion resistance, superior resistance to oxidation, and the retention of a larger fraction of room temperature strength than the common austenitic stainless steels, such as type 304. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, and joining. Filing Code: SS-1333. Producer or source: AK Steel Corporation.

for article titled, ARMCO 309 and 309S: Stabilized Austenitic Stainless Steel
Types 309 and 309S are austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steels that provide excellent corrosion resistance and heat resistance plus good strength at room and elevated temperatures. Type 309S is identical to Type 309 except for a lower carbon content that minimizes carbide precipitation and improves weldability. Typical uses include furnace parts, heating elements, aircraft and jet engine parts, heat exchangers, carburizing-annealing boxes, sulfite liquor handling equipment, kiln liners, boiler baffles, refinery and chemical processing equipment, and auto exhaust parts. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness. It also includes information on high temperature performance and corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: SS-853. Producer or source: AK Steel Inc.
