AISI Type 302 is a general purpose austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel. It has high resistance to corrosion and heat. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness and creep. It also includes information on low temperature performance and corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: SS-99. Type 302 (UNS S 30200) stainless steel is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel, nonhardenable by thermal treatments. It may be cold worked to high tensile strengths with slightly lower ductility than type 301. Its corrosion resistance is superior to that of type 301. Type 302 is essentially nonmagnetic in the annealed condition and becomes slightly magnetic when cold worked. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and tensile properties as well as creep. CARPENTER STAINLESS TYPE 302 is one of the most widely used of the chromium-nickel stainless and heat-resisting steels. In the annealed condition it is austenitic, non-magnetic, extremely tough and ductile and it has excellent resistance to corrosion. Among its many uses are springs, woven screens, cables, salt-water fishing tackle, thermometers and camera parts.
