UNS No. G10450 is a plain carbon steel containing nominally 0.45% carbon. It may be used in four conditions: hot rolled, normalized, oil quenched and tempered or water quenched and tempered. It is a general-purpose construction and engineering steel and provides medium strength and medium toughness at low cost. It is suitable for flame- or induction-hardened parts. Among its many uses are axles, shafts, bolts, rods, pipe, wire and tools. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, joining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: CS-115. Producer or source: Carbon steel mills.

for article titled, LUCEFIN GROUP C45U (1.1730): Medium-Carbon, Non-Alloy, Cold-Work Tool Steel
Lucefin Group C45U is a medium-carbon, non-alloy cold-work tool steel. It is primarily used in the non-heat-treated condition. For special applications it is used in the quenched and tempered condition. Owing to its low hardenability, C45U develops a fully hardened zone that is relatively thin, even when quenched drastically. Thicker sections have a hard case over a tough core. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties. It also includes information on high temperature performance as well as forming and joining. Filing Code: TS-784. Producer or source: Lucefin S.p.A.

for article titled, LUCEFIN GROUP C45 (1.0503), C45E (1.1191), C45R (1.1201): Medium-Carbon, Non-Alloy Steel
Lucefin Group C45, C45E, and C45R are medium-carbon (0.42–0.50%), non-alloy steels that are used in the normalized, cold worked, or quenched and tempered condition. C45E and C45R may also be flame or induction hardened. C45, C45E and C45R are widely used for moderately stressed parts. Owing to their low hardenability, their use in the quenched and tempered condition is not recommended for large sizes, as the improvement in mechanical properties over the normalized condition is insufficient to justify the additional cost of heat treatment. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and elasticity. It also includes information on high temperature performance as well as forming. Filing Code: CS-203. Producer or source: Lucefin S.p.A.

1045, 1045H, 1046, C45, C45E, and C45R are wrought medium-carbon non-alloy steels that are used in the normalized, cold worked, or quenched and tempered condition. 1045, 1045H, 1046, C45E, and C45R may also be flame or induction hardened. These steels are widely used for moderately and highly stressed parts that require higher strength levels than can be achieved by the lower carbon grades, and where the expense of an alloy steel is not justified. Owing to their low hardenability their use in the quench hardened and tempered condition is not recommended for large sizes as the improvement in mechanical properties over the normalized condition is insufficient to justify the additional cost of heat treatment. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joinability. Filing Code: CS-217. Producer or source: Data Survey.
