UCI-160 (also called HK alloy) has been a standard material used in reformer type furnaces for many years. It performs well in carburizing and nitriding gases (both oxidizing and reducing) up to 1800 F. HK was the first general-purpose alloy for ethylene pyrolysis furnaces. UCI-160 is used in many replacement applications for furnace tubing. This datasheet provides information on composition and physical properties as well as creep. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as casting, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: SS-682. Producer or source: Ultra-Cast Inc.

UCI-170 (HL) is similar to HK material, but additional chromium provides better resistance to hot gas corrosion, particularly sulfidation. This alloy is used extensively for tube supports, hangers, and tube sheets. Alloy UCI 170 (HL) also possesses high-temperature strength, useful for service where excessive scaling must be minimized. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, and tensile properties as well as creep. It also includes information on high temperature performance and corrosion resistance as well as casting, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: SS-685. Producer or source: Ultra-Cast Inc. Originally published June 1997, corrected August 1997.

for article titled, HPM: Ethylene Tube Alloy
HPM, or 25Cr-38Ni-Mo-Ti, is a wrought alloy developed for cracking tubes in ethylene plants. Development was aimed at tubes with similar or better elevated temperature strength and carburization resistance compared to HP grade centrifugally cast tubes, but with higher ductility, better toughness, and ability to be produced in longer and smaller tubing. See also Alloy Digest SS-307, March 1975, and SS-689, July 1997, for data about the HP (UCI-190) grade. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness and creep. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as joining. Filing Code: Ni-541. Producer or source: Sumitomo Metal USA.
