for article titled, <span class="search-highlight">TARTAN</span>: Arsenic Rolled Carbon Steel
TARTAN is an economical, as-rolled carbon steel in plate form. It has a minimum yield strength of 50,000 psi and a minimum transverse impact value (Charpy V-notch) of 20 foot-pounds at -20 F up to a thickness of 11/2 inches. Columbium (niobium) has been added to increase toughness levels above those of other as-rolled carbon steels of similar thickness and strength. Among Tartan's uses are crane car bodies and roll-over protection equipment. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness. It also includes information on forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: CS-88. Producer or source: Lukens Steel Company.
