MATRIX I is an ultra high-strength alloy steel capable of reaching tensile strength values up to 360,000 psi and maintaining high strength levels at operating temperatures to 1000 deg F. It combines extremely high strength with ductility, toughness, fatigue and heat resistance. The alloy was formerly designated VASCOJET M-A(CVM); see Alloy Digest SA-150, July 1963. Colmonoy 730 is a tough Ni-Cr-W matrix alloy that holds extremely hard tungsten-carbide particles with a finer mesh tungsten carbide than Colmonoy 750 (Alloy Digest Ni-546, October 1998).
