MAGIVAL MG3 is a ferritic free machining stainless steel grade with similar magnetic properties to MG1 (Alloy Digest SS-1159, October 2013); it has better pitting corrosion resistance due to its molybdenum content, allowing applications in mild chloride corrosive environments. Magival is a group of easily workable ferritic stainless steels with a high degree of machinability developed for magnetic applications where high permeability and low coercive force are required. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and elasticity. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, and joining. Filing Code: SS-1164. Producer or source: Valbruna Stainless Steel.

MAGIVAL MG4 is a free machining ferritic stainless steel grade with the machinability and corrosion resistance as MG3 (Alloy Digest SS-1164, December 2013), and offering a higher magnetic permeability and lower coercive force than MG1 (Alloy Digest SS-1159, October 2013). Its higher silicon content allows it to reduce the eddy currents losses in components working in AC, and its molybdenum content allows applications in mild chloride corrosive environments. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and elasticity. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, and joining. Filing Code: SS-1165. Producer or source: Valbruna Stainless Steel.

... of initiation for corrosion. To reduce the problems, titanium is added in order to form Mn-S-Ti inclusions that have a different behavior and do not initiate pitting corrosion. Titanium slightly reduces the life of tools and magnetic properties when compared to MG2, MG3 and MG4. See Fig. 1. Specification...

MAGIVAL MG1 is the best known ferritic free machining stainless steel grade, developed for magnetic applications, and it has high machinability and corrosion resistance similar to type 430F. Magival steels are easily workable ferritic stainless steels developed for magnetic applications where high permeability and low coercive force are required. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and elasticity. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, and joining. Filing Code: SS-1159. Producer or source: Valbruna Stainless Steel.
