CBS-50NiL VIM-VAR is produced by vacuum induction melting followed by Vac-Are remelting. It meets high cleanliness standards. It is a low carbon, nickel added variant of AISI M50 (see Alloy Digest TS-415, July 1983). High core fracture toughness is its primary advantage over the non-carburizing M50 VIM-VAR. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and elasticity as well as fracture toughness. It also includes information on forming and heat treating. Filing Code: SA-462. Producer or source: Lauobe Steel Company. “Originally published October 1991, revised January 1992, revised March 1992.”
