CARPENTER STAINLESS TYPE 420F is a martensitic stainless that is easy to machine, grind and polish. In service it exhibits certain nongalling and nonseizing characteristics. It is used mainly for machined parts that require high hardness and good resistance to corrosion. Its applications include pump shafts, gears, cams and pivots. This alloy is not usually recommended for vessels containing gases or liquid under high pressure. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and elasticity. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: SS-400. Producer or source: Carpenter.
