CARPENTER STAINLESS TYPE 303Se is a free-machining modification of the 18% chromium-8% nickel stainless steel. Type 303Se is used for all types of screw-machine products. This alloy is frequently used for machined parts which will be subjected to some cold forming in assembly operations. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness and creep. CARPENTER STAINLESS 302HQ-FM, a modification of Carpenter Stainless Custom Flo 302HQ, has excellent cold headability plus machinability approaching that of AISI Type 303 stainless steel. It is designed primarily for cold-headed parts that are to be drilled, slotted, broached, etc; in addition, it can be used in bar form on automatic screw machines on parts where thread rolling or cold form tapping operations are critical.
