Atlas 302HQ is a chromium-nickel-copper austenitic stainless steel. It is a specialized wire grade with very wide usage for the manufacture of stainless steel fasteners. The inclusion of 3% copper in the composition reduces the cold work hardening rate substantially compared to type 304 austenitic stainless steel. Atlas 302HQ is the standard for the manufacture of self-tapping screws and light machine screws. It is also used for some bolts, set screws, rivets, and specialized fasteners. It has now totally replaced type 384 and type 305 austenitic stainless steels for cold heading applications, because Atlas 302HQ has relatively higher copper content which is used a lower-cost alternative to the high nickel contents in those alloys. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, elasticity, and tensile properties. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: SS-1350. Producer or source: Atlas Steels.
