ARMCO FORMABLE 50 HR is a hot-rolled high-strength low-alloy steel that provides excellent ductility, weldability and edge-tear resistance at a minimum yield strength of 50,000 psi (345 MPa). It has unusually good fabricating properties that are the result of closely controlled processing of a fully killed, low-carbon, vacuum-degassed, columbium-alloyed steel. This special composition and processing practice minimize harmful nonmetallic inclusions that hamper formability. Typical applications include automotive, construction and farm-equipment components. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fatigue. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: SA-356. Producer or source: Armco Inc., Eastern Steel Division.

ARMCO 409 HIGH PERFORMANCE-10 has the lowest price of all of the manufacturer's stainless steels. It has an excellent combination of good formability, economy and good resistance to corrosion and oxidation; therefore, it is suited particularly to automotive exhaust applications, especially where improved formability over regular AISI Type 409 stainless steel is required. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fatigue. It also includes information on high temperature performance and corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, joining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: SS-479. Producer or source: Armco Inc., Eastern Steel Division.

Published: 01 November 1962
.... General Characteristics: Armco 18-9LW is a stainless steel which combines cold formability and low work- hardenability to retain good dimensional accuracy. It is capable of being headed into many of the more difficult fasteners which previously were restricted to the more highly alloyed stain- less steels...
