AISI 4142 is a medium-carbon low-alloy steel recommended for moderately heavy-duty service. It is nominally an oil-hardening grade; however, it may be water hardened if suitable precautions are taken to avoid cracking. It has a relatively low tendency to develop temper embrittlement. It has a variety of applications including bolts, crankshafts, wrenches, clutch parts and shafting. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: SA-370. Producer or source: Alloy steel mills and foundries.

PYROTOOL EX is an austenitic precipitation-hardenable nickel-base alloy with high strength in the range 1000 to 1500 F. When aged it produces a hardness of Rockwell C 40-44. Applications include high-temperature tooling, extrusion dies and dummy blocks. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties. It also includes information on high temperature performance and corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: Ni-170. Producer or source: Carpenter Technology Corporation.

GUTERL S-1 is a chromium-tungsten steel for general use for chisels and other cold-battering tools. It also is used for numerous other cold and hot-work applications because of its excellent toughness, high hardness and strength, and resistance to fatigue. Its many applications include boilermaker's tools, cold-battering hand and pneumatic tools, punches, shear blades and concrete drills and breakers. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and elasticity. It also includes information on forming, heat treating, machining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: TS-396. Producer or source: Guterl Special Steel Corporation.

Carpenter T-K is a tungsten-chromium type hot-work steel having good red-hardness and resistance to abrasion. It will withstand high operating temperatures up to 1000 F for long periods. It is recommended for hot shear blades, forging and extrusion dies, hot compression tools, and similar applications where high compressive strength and wear resistance at elevated temperatures are required. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties. It also includes information on high temperature performance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: TS-219. Producer or source: Carpenter.
