J and L 2205 is a ferritic-austenitic duplex stainless steel. It resists stress-corrosion cracking very well and has good pitting and general corrosion resistance. Its high strength and stress-corrosion resisting characteristics are a reflection of its duplex microstructure. Its uses include pipe, tubing, tanks, and heat exchangers for the chemical industries. Copper Alloy No. C61300 is a copper-aluminum-tin alloy. It is characterized by medium strength, medium ductility and a good capacity for being hot worked or cold worked. It has good resistance to corrosion. Its many applications include bolts, nuts, corrosion-resistant vessels, machine parts, piping systems, marine fasteners and blending chambers for munitions. ALUMINUM 5254 is an aluminum-magnesium-chromium wrought alloy of the non-heat-treatable type; however, it can be hardened and strengthened by cold working. It is relatively strong and has excellent resistance to general corrosion and stress-corrosion cracking. Its applications include hydrogen peroxide serivce and chemical storage vessels. UDDEHOLM Stainless 24 and 24L are essentially similar except for the extra-low carbon content of 24L for use where forming and welding result in relatively long heating within the range 930-1650 F (500-900 C). They are acid-resistant, non-hardenable and nonmagnetic steels. Their wide usage includes process vessels and containers in the chemical industry, steam superheaters and pickling vats.
