Rio Tinto A356.2 is a heat-treatable, aluminum-silicon-magnesium casting alloy (3xx.x series) that is available in the ingot form for remelting. It is used extensively for producing general-purpose sand and permanent mold castings that require a combination of medium strength with good elongation, very good corrosion resistance, and excellent casting characteristics. Alloy A356.0, which is a higher purity, low iron version of alloy 356.0, provides better elongation and somewhat higher tensile strength. Alloy A356.0 is used in premium, higher strength applications and is used extensively in safety critical applications. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, tensile properties, and shear strength. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as casting, heat treating, and machining. Filing Code: Al-499. Producer or source: Rio Tinto Limited.

ISO1083/JS/400-15 is a ferritic spheroidal graphite cast iron that has a minimum tensile strength of 400 MPa (58 ksi) and a minimum elongation of 15%, when measured on test pieces machined from separately cast samples. It has a tensile strength exceeding that of the highest-tensile-strength grade of gray cast iron, together with much higher elongation and impact resistance. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, tensile properties, and shear strength as well as fatigue. It also includes information on casting and heat treating. Filing Code: CI-105. Producer or source: International Organization for Standardization.

BSI LM2 is an aluminum-silicon-copper casting alloy (3xx.x series). It is essentially a pressure die casting alloy with excellent casting characteristics. Castings made from BSI LM2 have a higher tensile strength and better machinability than pressure die castings made from either BSI LM6 or BSI LM20. The use of BSI LM2 is not recommended for corrosive environments unless protection of the casting by a process such as anodizing is used. It is better in such circumstances to consider the use of either BSI LM6 or BSI LM20. BSI LM2 has a slightly lower density than BSI LM24. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, tensile properties, and shear strength as well as fatigue. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as casting, heat treating, and machining. Filing Code: Al-497. Producer or source: British Standards Institution.

ISO 185/JL/150 is an unalloyed low-tensile-strength gray cast iron that has high carbon and silicon contents, and thus the highest thermal conductivity and damping capacity. It is, therefore, useful in situations where high thermal conductivity, damping capacity, and machinability are important, but where tensile strength and hardness are not the crucial properties in service. The high carbon content of this material also imparts good lubricated bearing properties. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, tensile properties, shear and bend strength as well as fatigue. It also includes information on casting, heat treating, and machining. Filing Code: CI-67. Producer or source: International Organization for Standardization.
