ZAMAK 2 is the strongest and hardest of the four Zamak alloys. While generally produced by die casting, ZAMAK 2 is occasionally gravity cast. It is not a widely used alloy. ZA-8 is a hypereutectic zinc-aluminum,highperformance die casting alloy. It is one of a family of three ZA Alloys which can be economically die cast with properties surpassing conventional zinc or aluminum alloys. It is the lowest aluminum content alloy of the family and it has the lowest melting point and casting temperature range. UNS No. Z35635 is a zinc-aluminum-copper-magnesium foundry alloy recommended for castings of moderate strength and low cost. It was designed for use in nonferrous permanent-mold foundries to compete with cast-iron, aluminum and bronze castings. The alloy can be sand cast and die cast. Its many uses include hardware, valves, implement components and equipment for liquid fuel transfer because it is non-sparking. Tg-12 Zinc Alloy is the general-purpose, zinc-aluminum-copper foundry alloy. It can be sand, permanent-mold or die cast, has a modest cost and a tensile strength suitable for many applications where bronze and cast or malleable iron were traditionally used. Tg-12 is extremely resistant to galling, has natural lubricity and is thus well suited to lubricated bearing and bushing applications. Tg-12 is particularly well suited to liquid and gas-pressure applications. ZA-27 is a zinc-aluminum-copper alloy that offers exceptionally high strength (58,000 to 64,000 psi tensile strength as cast) at modest cost.
