for article titled, C1119 Modified and C1144 Modified: Free Machining Steel Plate
Bethlehem Lukens Plate (BLP) C1119/C1144 Modified steels are resulfurized carbon steels containing nominally 1.15% Mn and 0.20 to 0.33% S to provide a free-machining steel. They are recommended especially for high-production automatic machining. They have relatively low hardenability. Their ductility and toughness are reasonably good in the longitudinal direction, but they tend to be low in the transverse direction. The many uses include mining equipment, bushings, bolts, and gears. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, microstructure, elasticity, and tensile properties. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, machining, and joining. Filing Code: SA-436. Producer or source: International Steel Group Inc. Originally published February 1989, revised February 2004.

CMW 353 alloy is a Ni-Si-Cr-Cu high-strength high-conductivity alloy. It has high hardness combined with toughness. This combination gives the alloy excellent wear resistance and makes it useful for flash welding dies, back-up bars, and bushings in current-carrying bearings when used in combination with CMW 3 (see Alloy Digest Cu-85, August 2000) shafts. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties. Filing Code: CU-656. Producer or source: CMW Inc.

Nicomet 2 is a copper-nickel-tin alloy that has high strength because of spinodal decomposition. The alloy has good antifriction properties. Nicomet 2 could replace some beryllium-copper alloys. An example application for the alloy is a sleeve bearing. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and tensile properties. It also includes information on wear resistance as well as heat treating. Filing Code: CU-653. Producer or source: Anchor Bronze & Metals, Inc.

for article titled, AL TECH STAINLESS STEEL TYPE 440C: High Hardening Martensitic Stainless Steel
AL TECH 440C is a martensitic stainless steel of high carbon and chromium content capable of full hardening response after oil quenching or air cooling. The outstanding wear resistance of 440C combined with its moderately good corrosion resistance make it an excellent candidate for bearings, bushings, valve components, cutlery and pump parts. Designers may also consider Type 440C vacuum are remelted (VAR) for aerospace and small precision bearings. In these applications improved cleanliness, superior fatigue properties, high strength and corrosion resistance are critical design considerations. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, tensile properties, and compressive strength as well as fracture toughness. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, and joining. Filing Code: SS-550. Producer or source: AL Tech Specialty Steel Corporation.
