Finkl ShelleX is a high-quality steel alloy melted, vacuum arc degassed, and forged. The alloy is similar to Shelldie (see Alloy Digest TS-554, April 1997) but has nearly twice the molybdenum content for excellent wear resistance under conditions of high die operating temperatures. The alloy is suitable for hydraulic and mechanical presses. Die preheating is mandatory. The alloy is used for die inserts or other applications where higher wear and tempering resistance that H11 or H13 die steels have is important. This datasheet provides information on composition, hardness, and tensile properties. It also includes information on heat treating. Filing Code: TS-569. Producer or source: A. Finkl & Sons Company.
