Abstract

Carpenter Project 70+ Type 416 stainless steel is a modified version of Type 416 stainless steel with improved machinability when compared to conventional 416 (Alloy Digest SS-459, March 1985, and Alloy Digest SS-769, November 1999). The alloy is a hardenable ferritic chromium steel. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: SS-882. Producer or source: Carpenter Technology Corporation.
