Abstract

AISI 8627 is an alloy steel of moderate-to-good hardenability for carburizing and other applications. When carburized, its core has good strength and toughness, and it is recommended for heavy-duty applications such as gears, shafts, cams, and machinery parts. Also, it can be used in the hot-rolled, normalized or water-quenched-and-tempered condition without carburizing. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties. It also includes information on forming, heat treating, machining, joining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: SA-379. Producer or source: Alloy steel mills and foundries.
