Abstract

CARPENTER NICKEL-COPPER ALLOY 400 combines high strength (comparable to structural steel) and toughness over a wide temperature range. It can be strengthened by cold working. It has excellent resistance to many corrosive environments. This alloy has excellent mechanical properties at sub-zero temperatures; also, it can be used at temperatures to 800 F(427 C) and as high as 1000 F(538 C) in sulfur-free oxidizing atmospheres. Alloy 400 is used widely in many fields, particularly marine and chemical processing. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: Ni-319. Producer or source: Carpenter.
