Allegheny Ludlum Type 201 stainless steel has many properties similar to Type 301 and provides excellent strength and formability. Together, Type 201 and Type 201L (see Alloy Digest SS-825, July 2001) account for the greatest tonnage of Cr-Ni-Mn 200 series stainless steels. A typical application is washing machine baskets.
