Ovatec 677 is a through-hardening steel. When austenitized, it can be air cooled avoiding quench baths. This reduces the hardening distortion and the subsequent need for machining. Ovatec 677L is standard bearing quality, while 677K is premium bearing quality. This datasheet provides information on composition, microstructure, hardness, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness. It also includes information on heat treating and machining.
