Abstract
Ovatec 477 is a hardening and tempering steel that, when austenitized, can be air cooled avoiding quench baths, reducing the hardening distortion and the subsequent need for machining. The steel is available as standard bearing quality (477L) and premium bearing quality (477T). This datasheet provides information on composition, microstructure, hardness, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness. It also includes information on forming and heat treating.
