Abstract
TIMETAL 62S, because iron is used for the beta stabilizer in lieu of more expensive elements, has a lower formulation cost than most titanium alloys, yet the properties and processing characteristics of Ti-6A1-2Fe-0. 1Si are equivalent to or better than those of the workhorses of the titanium industry, including Ti-6A1-4V. The combination of reasonable cost and excellent mechanical properties make TIMETAL 62S a practical substitute for other engineering materials in numerous industrial applications that require low weight and high corrosion resistance. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness and fatigue. It also includes information on heat treating.
