Abstract
ZA-27 is the strongest, hardest and lightest of the three-member ZA alloy group (see also ZA-8, Alloy Digest Zn-48, January 1990, and ZA-12, Alloy Digest Zn-49, May 1990). Mechanical properties of ZA-27 compare favorably with many heavier more costly (manufacturing intensive) alloys such as malleable and ductile iron, manganese and aluminum bronzes and many ferrous and nonferrous wrought alloys. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, tensile properties, and compressive and shear strength as well as fracture toughness and fatigue. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as casting, forming, machining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: Zn-50. Producer or source: Aluminum Smelting and Refining Company Inc.. See also Alloy Digest Zn-32, October 1977.
