Abstract

CARPENTER STAINLESS TYPE 302 is one of the most widely used of the chromium-nickel stainless and heat-resisting steels. In the annealed condition it is austenitic, non-magnetic, extremely tough and ductile and it has excellent resistance to corrosion. Among its many uses are springs, woven screens, cables, salt-water fishing tackle, thermometers and camera parts. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness and creep. It also includes information on high temperature performance and corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: SS-443. Producer or source: Carpenter.
