CRUCIBLE 446 is a non-hardenable (ferritic) chromium stainless steel. It has the highest corrosion and heat-resisting properties of the straight chromium steels. It is magnetic at all times. Typical applications for CRUCIBLE 446 comprise heat-treating equipment, combustion chambers, oil-burner components, stack dampers and thermocouple protection tubes. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as creep. It also includes information on high temperature performance and corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: SS-456. Producer or source: Crucible Specialty Metals Division, Colt Industries.
