Abstract
Alloy Steel 5Ni-0.25Mo-0.05V is highly suitable for massive components, usually more than four inches thick. It has only moderate hardenability but 5-inch to 80-inch rounds can be cooled from the austenitizing temperature in air or a water-spray quench to produce ferrite, bainite and martensite or ferrite and bainite. This steel is suitable for light and intermediate-duty generator and turbine rotors, large axles and shafts, large gears, ship forgings, and many other thick-section components. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, elasticity, and tensile properties. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: SA-403. Producer or source: Alloy steel mills and foundries.
