Abstract
CARPENTER STAINLESS TYPE 414 is a hardenable (martensitic), nickel-bearing chromium steel. It resists corrosion from the atmosphere, fresh water, mine water, crude oil, blood, alcohol, mercury and many other reagents; however, it is rarely considered for high-temperature service because scale formation starts when 1200 F (649 C) is exceeded. Type 414 is used for many heat-treated parts such as high-strength bolts and nuts. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: SS-438. Producer or source: Carpenter.
